About The Idea Village

Founded in 2000, The Idea Village is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization with a mission to identify, support, and retain entrepreneurial talent in New Orleans. The Idea Village is a national recognized leader of entrepreneurship by catalyzing an entrepreneurial ecosystem that has provided direct support to over 1,798 New Orleans entrepreneurs by engaging 2,028 professionals to allocate over 56,949 consulting hours and $3.1 million in seed capital. Collectively, this portfolio generates over $100 million in annual revenue and has created over 2,000 jobs for our community.

Each year from July - March, The Idea Village executes an annual Entrepreneur Season that connects a collaborative network of local and national partners to identify, support and celebrate local startup ventures through IDEAxcelerator, IDEAinstitute, IDEAcorps, and New Orleans Entrepreneur Week.

Entrepreneur Season

From July 2011 - March 2012, The Idea Village’s 2012 Entrepreneur Season engaged over 2,000 professionals, entrepreneurs, MBAs, corporate partners, investors, economic development partners, and VIPs to provide $2.2 million in resources to 697 New Orleans-based entrepreneurs through 75 innovative events. 

The Entrepreneur Season culminated during the 4th New Orleans Entrepreneur Week (NOEW), March 10-16, 2012, which featured 56 start-up companies competing for more than $1 million in capital and consulting services in nine innovative pitch competitions. On the final day of NOEW 2012, 1,500+ people participated in the Big Idea.
