  • Eligibility & Selection Criteria

The Idea Village IDEAx Accelerator Program is looking for growth oriented businesses with highly scalable, technology-enabled business models. The program is designed to help hone your innovation and set your business up for rapid growth.

Do you have a for-profit, growth oriented, venture that:

    • Is based on a new or unproven business model with the potential to revolutionize how business is conducted in your industry.
    • Leverages new technology to improve a business process or bring a new product to market, or
    • Serves a new or niche market in an innovative way?

Our accelerator program is focused on catalyzing rapid growth, upon entering the program, we are looking for companies that have previously achieved a minimum of one of the following:

    • Built an innovative and functional product
    • Developed a strong and fully committed team with demonstrated domain knowledge and well rounded skills and experiences
    • Demonstrated market traction through sales, users, or capital raised

We believe these criteria to be the foundation of successful, innovative, growth oriented companies. Each company's application should highlight the area in which it believes it is the strongest and discuss how participation in the accelerator program might help it fill gaps or achieve strength in the other two. Our goal is that by the end of the program, all companies will have a strong product, a strong team, and strong traction.

Additionally, successful applicants typically demonstrate the following attributes:

    • An unquenchable thirst for learning
    • A willingness to assist their peers
    • An ability to take constructive criticism and change a course of action based on feedback
    • Ability to be physically present in New Orleans for the 4-Month Program

Applications for the 2019 cohort are now closed. Stay tuned for information on how to apply for future cohorts.

  • Selection Process

As candidates submit applications, our team reviews them on a rolling basis and invites select candidates for an initial interview.

First-round Interview: Applicants who are aligned with the eligibility criteria for the specific program may be invited in for an initial interview to discuss their business, background, and goals if The Idea Village team feels a first interview is necessary. Not all applicants will be interviewed. If you are not asked to do a first-round interview, it is likely because we felt that your application provided enough information for us to make a determination about your application status.

Due Diligence: The Idea Village will do some research, follow up with the applicant’s references, test assumptions, etc. as needed to make a determination.

Selection Day: Select candidates will be invited back to interview with a committee of experts and supporters from our network who will assess their character, business viability, and fit for the program.

Selection: The Idea Village team and the dedicated Entrepreneur-in-Residence will select founders to join the program. All applicants will be notified of their selection status in a timely manner. We are happy to provide feedback to entrepreneurs who are not selected, and to direct them to other programs run by The Idea Village (and/or by our partners) that may be a good fit.
